SCHOLARSHIP DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY & PRIZES DISTRIBUTION OF 2nd ART COMPETITION & EXHIBITION ORGANIZED BY CHINA STUDY CENTER, UNIVERSITY OF PESHAWAR.
China Study Center, University of Peshawar Organized the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Distribution Ceremony” & “Prizes Distribution of 2nd Art Competition & Exhibition” titled “Decade of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor” on July 13th, 2023 at Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan Auditorium, University of Peshawar.
The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by National Anthem of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan & People’s Republic of China.
Justice (r) Madam Irshad Qaiser Provincial Minister, Higher Education, and Archives Libraries graced the occasion as a Chief Guest.
Prof. Dr. Kausar Takrim, Director, China Study Center, University of Peshawar welcomed all the distinguished guests and participants to the event. She said that China Study Center, UoP is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Today’s event is the last activity among the Five activities we planned to celebrate the decade of CPEC.
“China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is expected to bring peace and prosperity in South Asia. This corridor will incorporate transport links between Kashgar in North-Western China to Pakistan’s Gwadar port on the Arabian Sea via roads, railways, and pipelines. It is a game changer project which will transform the fate of Pakistan. she added
She also said that every year, under the name of the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship”, the China Embassy in Islamabad awards scholarships to deserving students of the University of Peshawar. To date, the China Study Center, UoP has distributed about PKR18 million among the deserving students of the University of Peshawar. I’m happy to report that, this year, we are awarded 1,50,000 Chinese Yuan, which is equivalent to 6 million rupees which will be distributed among the deserving students of the University of Peshawar.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrees, Vice-Chancellor, University of Peshawar, congratulated all the deserving students who received their “Chinese Ambassador Scholarships”. He also congratulated all the participants who took part in the Art Competition organized by the China Study Center, University of Peshawar.
He said the 10th anniversary of CPEC bears particular importance, and it is significant because of the tremendous progress made by Pakistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor which is a flagship project of the BRI. He further mentioned that University of Peshawar is one of the oldest University in Pakistan and is considered a mother institution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Every year, the University of Peshawar produce high-quality graduates who will go on to make significant contributions to their homeland and the region, and the world at large. This makes the University one of the key institutions for regional cooperation, development, and integration. University of Peshawar is playing an important role in educating the youth of the province and region at large.
He emphasized that the establishment of the China Study Centre at University of Peshawar with the financial and technical support of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Islamabad has boosted mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries.
I am confident that China Study Center, University of Peshawar will continue its efforts to bring positive change to the relationship between the two countries. Together, China and Pakistan can achieve great heights, and I am optimistic about the future of this relationship he added.
Justice (r) Madam Irshad Qaiser Provincial Minister, Higher Education, and Archives Libraries thanked the University of Peshawar and the organizers for the invitation as the chief guest on the joyous occasion of celebrating the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has proved to be an economic game changer for the region. It has transformed Pakistan’s economic landscape by creating thousands of jobs, contributing to economic growth and development, and bringing foreign investment into the country.
She congratulated the students on their success and for receiving the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship. She hoped that this financial assistance will help the students in fulfilling educational expenses and reduce any financial burden as they are working hard to shape the future of our country. She also congratulated all the participants of the art competition organized by the China Study Center, University of Peshawar.
The “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” were distributed among the deserving students of the University of Peshawar. Also, the Cash Prizes and Certificates were awarded among the participants who took part in the 2nd Art Competition/ Exhibition organized by China Study Center, University of Peshawar.
A cake cutting ceremony was also held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The event was ended by the Vote of Thanks by Prof. Dr. Kausar Takrim. She thanked all the guests’ speakers, researchers, government officials, students, and academicians for their participation in the event.
A large number of Chairpersons, Directors, students of the different departments of the University of Peshawar, Scholars, Researchers, experts, and Media personnel attended the event.
