The China Study Centre, University of Peshawar, observed a condolence ceremony to pay tribute to the late Syed Ali Nawaz Gillani, who passed away last Friday. Syed Gillani was a distinguished businessman, banker, journalist, and social worker who led a remarkable and impactful life.
He was a founding member and general secretary of the Pak-China Friendship Association, which tirelessly worked to promote people-to-people relations between Pakistan and China. His contributions to this cause were invaluable.
Syed Gillani was also a pioneer of Khyber Bank, playing a crucial role in the bank’s establishment and growth over 24 years. Additionally, he was an accomplished journalist who edited a local newspaper.
Notably, he was instrumental in establishing the China Study Centre, having forged a close association with the Chinese ambassador who inaugurated the centre eight years ago. The condolence event, attended by family members, friends, colleagues, and associates, celebrated his inspiring life and legacy.
The China Study Centre, University of Peshawar, acknowledges his outstanding contributions and prays that Allah grants him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous. Amin.
