China Study Center, University of Peshawar organized an event titled “World Cultural & Natural Heritage and Youth Creativity” on 27th January, 2023 at the Conference Hall of China Study Center, University of Peshawar.
Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director China Study Center, University of Peshawar graced the occasion as a guest speaker. In his speech Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar stated that over the thousands of years cultural heritage shows the development of human history. And it determines who we are through art, architecture, religion, industry and much more. He further said that Investing in cultural heritage may be one of the best economic investments that a developing country can make. In this connection China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is playing an important role in identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage in Pakistan. For this purpose China-Pakistan Cultural and Educational Exchange Center (CPCEEC) was launched jointly by Hebei Academy of Fine Arts (China) and University of Education (Pakistan) on June 9, 2022. This will help to promote the cultural exchanges between China and Pakistan and artistic education for the two nations.
Prof. Dr. Fazlur-Rahman, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Peshawar in his speech highlighted the historical and ancient cultural heritage of Pakistan and China. And said that Pakistan is the custodian of a large number of ancient heritage and archeological sites which needs to be conserve so that they could survive for future generations.
Mr. Falak Naz Khalil, Department of Electronics, University of Peshawar said that the key pillar of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the cultural exchanges between Pakistan and China. And China Study Center, University of Peshawar is doing a wonderful efforts in connecting the peoples of the both countries. China is one the oldest civilization that is custodian of a rich culture and natural heritage.
Ms. Hira Ali, Lecturer Department of Arts and Design, University of Peshawar gave a detailed presentation about the “World Heritage and Youth Creativity” Global VLOG Contest, China in which she along with students from Arts and Design Department, UoP participated and secured 2nd position.
She said that Global VLOG Contest is a competition organized by International Center for Creativity and Sustainable Development under the auspices of UNESCO and co-organized by University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), China. It is a documentary contest in which young people from around the globe are invited to share their stories about the world heritage through vlogs.
Ms. Ammarah, Department of Arts and Design, UoP talked about the documentary which they showcased in the Global VLOG Competition. The title of the documentary was “The Heritage of Buddhist Gandhara of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan” which aims to promote the beauty of Gandhara art and history of the Buddhist ruins of Takht-I-Bahi, and neighboring city remains at Sahr-i-Bahlol located in Mardan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
Mr. Mujeeb Ur Rahim, Department of Arts and Design, UoP talked about the V-log and cinematography which he recorded for the Global VLOG Competition, China. He said that many participants around the globe participated in the competition. And today we feel proud that we were able to secured 2nd position in the Global VLOG Competition, China.
Dr. Zill e Huma, Professor Department of Arts and Design, University of Peshawar congratulated the team which won the competition. It’s an honor for the University of Peshawar that their students are competing on international level and securing prestigious awards for the University of Peshawar and for Pakistan. Dr. Zill e Huma thanked Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar for organizing a seminar on such important theme.
Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar particularly thanked Prof. Wang Yuhang for providing opportunity to University of Peshawar to participate in this V-Log Competition. He also congratulated the Department of Arts and Design, UoP, its faculty particularly the team i.e Ms Hira Ali, Ms. Ammarah and Mr. Mujeeb Ur Rahim, for securing 2nd position in the Global VLOG competition. At the end of seminar Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar distributed appreciation certificates and cash prizes among the winning team.
A large number of students, faculty members, scholars and expert participated in the seminar.
