FIELD VISIT ALONG THE CPEC ROUTE (HAZARA MOTORWAY)

On July 8th, 2023 China Study Center University of Peshawar under the leadership of the Director China Study Center, University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Kausar Takreen organized a one-day Study visit along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route (Hazara Motorway).

The purpose of the visit was to see the ongoing projects and progress made on Hazar Motorway Under CPEC. Prof. Dr. Kausar Takreem informed the MPhil, Ph.D. Scholars, students, and faculty about the history of Hazara Motorway and said that Hazara Motorway is a 180 km long road that begins at its southern end at the Hazara Express interchange near the northern Punjab province. She also emphasizes features of the Hazara Motorway

During the visit, the scholars, students, and faculty were able to witness the construction of the Hazara Motorway and the progress that has been made in its development under CPEC. The Director of the China Study Center provided them with insights into the various aspects of the CPEC project, including investment, infrastructure development, and socio-economic benefits for the region.

The Hazara Motorway is expected to enhance connectivity and economic development in the northern region of Pakistan, facilitating trade and transportation of goods and services across the country and beyond. The scholars, students and faculty were impressed by the progress made in the construction of the motorway and expressed optimism about the long-term benefits that the CPEC project will bring to Pakistan.

The visit to the Hazara Motorway was an important opportunity for the scholars, students and faculty to learn more about the CPEC project and its potential impact on the country’s economy and development. The insights gained from the visit helped them to better understand the challenges and opportunities associated with large-scale infrastructure projects like CPEC and to contribute to ongoing discussions and debates about the future of economic development in Pakistan.
